THE FOUNDING STORY

Where It All Began

Atrómitos was established in September 2016 by Michealle Gady, Founder, President & CEO, as a boutique consulting firm with the imperative mission of creating healthier, more resilient, and more equitable communities. The firm consists of a small team of experts working to effect real change for and alongside diverse innovators, entrepreneurs, and health and community champions. Atrómitos is Greek for “Fearless,” This word encompasses what we strive to accomplish for our clients – to provide “fearless” strategic guidance and support. The term is also something of a talisman for the firm, reminding us that to be great, one must be fearless.

After working in health law and policy for decades in traditional professional settings, Michealle saw an opportunity to change the work model to fit modern workers better–particularly professional women. After years of helping others create something new, she wanted to design and build something that would enable professionals to work with organizations doing truly wonderful work alongside people fearlessly committed to making things better in their communities. Importantly, Michealle sought to create a work environment that values and respects employees’ intelligence, appreciates their work, and enables them to give back to their communities. In this work environment, team members have the flexibility and autonomy to give their best work and dedicate time to care for themselves and their families.

After working for a large consulting firm, Michealle wanted the flexibility to structure financial arrangements with clients that ensured access to needed support to make meaningful community changes. Not all health and human services organizations can afford to hire costly consultants. Still, they often need external expertise and additional “hands” to design, implement, operationalize, and maintain initiatives and programs that impact people’s health and well-being. As the company’s owner, Michealle can focus on the mission and find alternative financial arrangements that ensure small, community-based health or human services organizations have the support they need.
